Master Bond EP42HT-2Med is a two part, medical grade epoxy system that complies with the testing requirements of USP Class VI plastics. Formulated for medical device assembly applications, this compound is capable of withstanding repeated sterilizations, including radiation, ethylene oxide, chemical sterilants and especially autoclaving. Most importantly, this system has been successfully used on several occasions in prosthetics and fully implantable medical devices, which are among the most difficult medical applications. For example, this system proved to be the ideal solution for a team of researchers from Switzerland, Italy and Spain and their implantable sensor for monitoring metabolites. EP42HT-2Med was also selected for mounting a gasket to the tibial component in a patented knee prosthetic by Howmedica Osteonics Corporation.
