New White Paper: Sterilization of Medical Equipment
image
Sterilization plays a major role in the use of both reusable and disposable medical devices. Download this white paper to learn about the different types of sterilization methods and their effects on materials used in medical devices. Also included is The Spaulding Classification System and recommended processes for various medical devices. This paper emphasizes the importance of proper selection of appropriate adhesives, sealants, coatings and encapsulants for medical device assembly.

Sterilization Resistant Products
In addition to withstanding multiple cycles of sterilization such as autoclaving, radiation, ethylene oxide (EtO) and chemical sterilants, the following products offer outstanding thermal stability and thermal cycling resistance properties. This attractive combination of properties has wide applicability in medical and other industries.
High Viscosity, Optically Clear UV Curable Adhesive
image
UV10TKMed is USP Class VI approved and meets ISO10993-5 for cytotoxicity requirements. It is used in the assembly of medical devices and is capable of withstanding repeated sterilizations, including radiation, ethylene oxide, chemical sterilants and especially autoclaving. This higher viscosity, one part system has exceptional optical clarity, sterling physical properties and a very high glass transition temperature (Tg) that exceeds 140°C. It also has been successfully tested for 1,000 hours at 85°C/ 85% RH.

High Temperature Resistant Epoxy Withstands Multiple Sterilization Cycles
image
Capable of withstanding repeated cycles of autoclaving, radiation, EtO and cold sterilants, EP42HT-2Med is a room temperature curable, two part epoxy that complies with USP Class VI testing. It has excellent electrical insulation properties and can be cast in sections exceeding 2-3 inches thick. This high temperature resistant system is serviceable from -60°F up to +450°F [-51°C to +232°C]. EP42HT-2Med is widely used in the healthcare industry for manufacturing endoscopes, surgical instruments, catheters and many other medical devices.
