Master Bond UV22DC80 is a one part nanosilica filled system for bonding, sealing and coating applications in the aerospace, optical and electronic industries. This video demonstrates the epoxy based system’s unique dual curing mechanism of both UV light and heat, allowing it to cure dissimilar substrates and shadowed out areas. This low viscosity epoxy passes NASA low outgassing testing and features exceptional optical clarity.

Having a dual cure mechanism allows those areas not directly exposed to UV light to be fully cured with the addition of heat. The thermal part of the cure is achieved at 80°C, which is user friendly when working with heat sensitive plastics. Dual cure systems are particularly useful for rapidly fixturing parts with the UV portion of the cure and then finishing the process by heating. UV22DC80 is also a high strength system that bonds well to metals, glass, ceramics and most plastics. It is dimensionally stable and offers superior abrasion resistance.

Some additional advantageous properties include:

Superb optical clarity

Refractive index: 1.52

Low viscosity

1,000-8,000 cps at 75°F

High strength profile

Tensile strength: 6,000-8,000 psi

Thermally stable

Tg: greater than 125°C

UV15DC80Med is also a dual cure epoxy based system that offers a primary cure using UV light along with a secondary heat cure that can be initiated at the low temperature of 80°C. This system was formulated for medical device assembly applications. It meets USP Class VI specifications and passes ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity testing. UV15DC80Med has very good temperature resistance along with the ability to withstand sterilization exposure including liquid sterilants, radiation and even autoclaving. It requires no mixing, is solvent free and exhibits excellent physical strength properties.
