Featuring a remarkably high glass transition temperature of 186°C, Master Bond UV25 offers exceptional thermal stability over the broad service temperature range of -60°F to +500°F. This one part UV curable system bonds well to glass, surface treated metals and plastics such as polycarbonates and acrylics, among others. It can cure in sections up to 0.100-0.120 inches for potting applications. At room temperature, UV25 has a moderate viscosity of 7,000-11,000 cps. It is also a competent electrical insulator. Additionally, this material is optically clear with a refractive index of 1.55 at room temperature.

Selecting the right adhesive for your application involves many considerations and one of them may be the glass transition temperature. This can be described as the temperature where significant changes occur to an epoxy in mechanical strength properties and thermal, electrical and chemical resistance when heated, which do not necessarily recover upon cooling. Master Bond’s technical experts explain this property in the technical tip, How To: Optimizing the Glass Transition Temperature (Tg).
