FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Addition Cured Silicone Meets USP Class VI and ISO 10993-5 Specifications for Biocompatibility and Cytoxicity

Formulated for medical device applications, MasterSil 153Med passes USP Class VI and ISO 10993-5 testing. This two part silicone with a paste consistency features a convenient one to one mix ratio by weight, and does not require exposure to air and humidity for cross-linking. It has a long working life of 5-7 hours and will not outgas while curing.

As is true with most silicones, MasterSil 153Med delivers high temperature resistance up to 400°F and superior flexibility. Its flexibility allows it to withstand thermal cycling, vibration and shock. It has a softer durometer enabling repairability. Its Shore A hardness is 20-35. It bonds well to a variety of substrates including metals, glass, ceramics, many plastics and cured silicone rubber. MasterSil 153Med has a self priming feature that enhances the bonding properties of this system.

Once cured, this optically clear silicone is a competent electrical insulator. It has low exotherm and contains no solvents. Its water resistance is exceptional. MasterSil 153Med is available in a variety of standard packaging options, such as ½ pint, pint, quart, gallon and 5 gallon kits. A general industrial grade called MasterSil 153 is also available for use.
