Meter Mix Dispense Systems Shorten Cycle Times

Automatic meter mix dispensing equipment can reduce production costs and enhance quality/reliability in bonding, sealing, coating, potting/encapsulation applications. Two component filled/unfilled compounds such as epoxies, silicones, polyurethanes, polysulfides can be consistently, accurately applied on complex shapes with little wastage. From filling to spraying to dispensing dots, lines, beads this machinery can improve throughput/yields to give manufacturers a competitive edge.

Durable, corrosion inhibiting structural adhesive formulations are designed for panel assembly applications. These products provide uniform distribution of stress, prevent heat distortion from welding and increase production speeds. Adhesion to a wide range of surfaces including steel, aluminum, glass fiber reinforced plastic and flame treated polyethylene is excellent. Noise and vibration is reduced with systems that exhibit high elasticity. To maximize product performance surface preparation is essential and the use of a primer may be required for optimum.

Gap filling, seam sealing compounds provide protection against corrosion, good adhesion and prevent air/water leakage. These products are designed for metal, glass reinforced plastic, polycarbonate, polyurethane and other surfaces. They are frequently employed for internal/external seams between panels. Elastic formulations absorb vibration, shock and impact. Rigid curing systems are recommended for specific applications and offer higher bond strength properties.

Master Bond offers many cost effective options for nameplate attachment. Key considerations are size, shape, thickness and type of substrates being bonded. Also of prime importance is the service conditions in which attached nameplate will be exposed to. This includes outdoor exposures, temperature cycling, abrasion, moisture/chemical contact.

MasterSil Primer 718 is a silicone primer formulated for MasterSil RTV systems, including one- and two-part silicones and sealants. It promotes adhesion to difficult-to-bond substrates such as metals, rubbers, and plastics like ABS, polycarbonate, polyphenylene oxide, polysulfone, polyester, styrenics, and rigid PVC. Most importantly, it can also be used with silicone rubber substrates.

Master Bond EP6STC-80 is a one-component, silver-filled epoxy with a smooth paste consistency, ideal for bonding, sealing, and coating. It has an unlimited working life at room temperature, as it only cures when heated to 80-90°C for 3-5 hours. EP6STC-80 is available in both syringes and jars. Following application, the syringe or jar should be returned to refrigerated storage. The epoxy has no solvents or diluents and low shrinkage upon curing.

Adhering to Boeing tests BSS 7238 Rev C and BSS 7239 Rev A provides a dual assurance: low smoke generation and low toxicity under fire exposure. Together, these standards form a rigorous benchmark for qualifying adhesives, composites, coatings, and other materials for use in Boeing aircraft interiors and systems, especially where fire safety and occupant protection are paramount.

Airbus testing for flame retardant epoxies must adhere to strict regulations. The first test is the vertical ignition test (conducted in accordance with Airbus AITM 2.0002B, Issue 2 for specification ABD0031, Issue F, Section 7.1.2). To comply, the material first must extinguish flames under 15 seconds when exposed to smoke emissions for 12 seconds. The second part of the test measure how far the flame has spread. The maximum allowed is 203 mm.
