Master Bond MB600S is an aqueous based sodium silicate coating formulated for applications where electromagnetic interference/radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI) shielding is required. Tested according to IEEE 299, 2006 methods, MB600S was as effective as the aluminum reference with a shielding effectiveness of 95-105 dB, from 100 MHz to 2 GHz. It is easy to brush on and being water based, the system is relatively non-toxic.

Conductive coatings are often applied to plastic electronics for EMI/RFI shielding. That is why the experts at Master Bond developed MB600S. It is a silver conductive, water based sodium silicate system. Environmentally friendly, this product features convenient, easy application and long term durability. The EMI/RFI shielding effectiveness for MB600S was measured based on IEEE 299, 2006 test methods. Aluminum was used as the reference for this test and it was performed at room temperature. This system's shielding effectiveness is:

  • 95-105 dB at 100 MHz to 2 GHz
  • 80 dB above 2 GHz
  • 60-70 dB above 4 GHz

In addition to shielding effectiveness, MB600S also offers:

  • Exceptional temperature resistance
  • A highly effective moisture barrier
  • Superior adhesion properties to most plastics.

Since the system is water based, it is relatively non-toxic and offers:

  • The ability to be readily brushed or sprayed on
  • Room temperature cures in 24-48 hours
  • Faster cures at elevated temperatures.
