Master Bond EP39MAOHT is a room temperature curing system for demanding bonding, sealing, coating, potting and encapsulation applications. “It is a versatile product that combines convenient handing, good flow, thermal conductivity, electrical insulation and high temperature resistance,” said Robert Michaels, vice president of technical support. “Its toughness lessens the chance of stress cracking when thermally cycled and its low exotherm makes it particularly useful for mid-to-large sized potting applications.”

EP39MAOHT has a low mixed viscosity of 3,000-6,000 cps as well as a convenient one to one mix ratio by weight and a long working life of 120-150 minutes for a 100 gram batch. This dimensionally stable system bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including metals, ceramics, composites and glass as well as many rubbers and plastics with very low shrinkage upon curing.

This formulation features reliable thermal conductivity of 9-10 BTU•in/ft2•hr•°F [1.30-1.44 W/(m•K)], while retaining superior electrical insulation properties, including a volume resistivity of >1014 ohm-cm and a dielectric constant of 4.8 at 60 Hz. It offers chemical resistance to water, fuels and hydraulic fluids as well as many acids and bases. EP39MAOHT is serviceable from -100°F to +400°F. The combination of these performance properties makes it well suited for application in the aerospace, electronic, electrical, optical and specialty OEM industries.

Two Component, Low Viscosity Epoxy Features Outstanding Chemical Resistance

Master Bond EP62-1BF is a two part epoxy featuring the ability to withstand exposure to aggressive chemicals including acids, bases and solvents, even at high temperatures. “We tested the chemical resistance properties of EP62-1BF by taking cured samples of the system and immersing them in a variety of chemicals, like sulfuric acid, toluene, ammonium hydroxide, etc.,” said Venkat Nandivada, manager of technical support. “Even after six months, the samples weren’t affected by chemicals.”

EP62-1BF is easy to handle with a long open time of 12-24 hours at 75°F for a 100 gram batch. It has a non-critical mix ratio of 100 to 5 by weight and offers a variety of cure schedules at moderately elevated temperatures from 140-257°F [60-125°C]. With a mixed viscosity of 2,000-5,000 cps, EP62-1BF can be used for potting small components. Additionally, it has low shrinkage upon curing.

After curing, this compound delivers an impressive strength profile with a tensile lap shear strength of 2,000-2,200 psi, a tensile strength of 8,000-9,000 psi and a tensile modulus of 500,000-550,000 psi. EP62-1BF is thermally stable and has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 125-135°C and is serviceable over the wide temperature range of -60°F to +400°F [-51°C to +204°C]. This formulation is also a competent electrical insulator with a volume resistivity exceeding 1014 ohm-cm.

Its combination of chemical resistance, thermal stability and physical strength properties enable this product to be used for many applications in the aerospace, electronic and specialty OEM industries. Room Temperature Curing Epoxy Features Low Thermal Resistance

Formulated for use in demanding thermal management applications, Master Bond EP30TC is a two component epoxy that contains a robust thermally conductive filler with very fine particle sizes. This NASA low outgassing certified system can be used for bonding, coating, sealing and encapsulating for the aerospace, electronic, optical and OEM industries.

EP30TC exhibits a thermal conductivity of 18-20 BTU•in/ft2•hr•°F [2.60-2.88 W/(m•K)] and has  the ability to be applied in sections as thin as 5-15 microns, resulting in a low thermal resistance of 7-10 x 10-6 K•m2/W. This compound is a reliable electrical insulator and has a volume resistivity of over 1014 ohm-cm. It is serviceable over the wide temperature range of -100°F to +300°F [-73°C to +149°C].

EP30TC features a low viscosity with excellent flow properties making it well suited for coating and potting applications. As a two part system, it requires a 10 to 1 mix ratio by weight. Color coding facilitates mixing with Part A being gray and Part B being clear. It can be cured at room or elevated temperatures, but to achieve optimum properties, the recommended cure schedule is overnight at ambient temperature followed by 2-3 hours at 150-200°F.

This system bonds well to metals, composites, ceramics, glass and many plastics. It delivers superior physical strength properties, with a tensile strength of 5,000-6,000 psi, a compressive strength of 24,000-26,000 psi and a tensile modulus of 500,000-550,000 psi. Dimensionally stable, EP30TC also has very low shrinkage upon curing and a low coefficient of thermal expansion.

Thermally Conductive, High Temperature Resistant Epoxy Passes NASA Low Outgassing Tests

Certified to meet ASTM E595 NASA low outgassing standards, Master Bond EP46HT-2AO Black is well suited for the aerospace, electronic, opto-electronic industries and can be used vacuum environments. This two component system blends thermal stability with a high strength profile for a variety of bonding, sealing and encapsulation applications.

EP46HT-2AO Black combines superior thermal conductivity of 9-10 BTU•in/ft2•hr•°F [1.2981-1.4423 W/(m·K)] and reliable electrical insulation with a volume resistivity exceeding 1014 ohm-cm at room temperature. It has a glass transition temperature of 200-210°C and is serviceable over the wide temperature range of -100°F to +500°F [-73°C to +260°C]. This dimensionally stable system delivers a tensile strength of 6,000-7,000 psi, compressive strength of 26,000-28,000 psi and tensile lap shear strength of 1,400-1,600 psi at 75°F. EP46HT-2AO Black also withstands a variety of chemicals including oils, water, acids, bases and fuels.

Unlike most traditional two part epoxies, EP46HT-2AO Black cures with the addition of heat, which allows it to have a working life of over 24 hours. It has a forgiving 100 to 30-35 mix ratio by weight and upon mixing, this thixotropic system has a viscosity of 140,000-280,000 cps. It bonds well to metals, composites, glass, ceramics, rubbers and many plastics.

This epoxy is available in ½ pint, pint, quart, gallon and 5 gallon container kits. Part A of this system is black in color and Part B is gray. EP46HT-2AO Black has a minimum 6 month, maximum 1 year shelf life at ambient temperatures in original, unopened containers.

One Component Elastomeric System Features Excellent Thermal Conductivity

Master Bond X5TC is an elastomeric system that has a thermal conductivity of 10-12 BTU•in/ft2•hr•°F [1.44-1.73 W/m•K] while maintaining solid electrical insulation properties. This one part, no mix adhesive/sealant has a paste-like consistency and is very easy to use. It readily cures in 8-12 hours at room temperature or in 60-90 minutes at 150°F.

X5TC bonds well to many substrates including metals, glass, composites, ceramics, rubbers and plastics. Since it is elastomeric, this compound is suitable for bonding dissimilar substrates and performs well when subjected to thermal cycling, vibration and shock.

X5TC can be used in aerospace, electronic and specialty OEM applications. The service temperature range of this product is from -80°F to +250°F, although it can withstand brief exposure to temperatures as high as 350-400°F. It has good resistance to water and oils. This compound is available for use in ounces, ½ pints and pints containers.

Chemical Resistant, Two Part Epoxy Features Glass Transition Temperature of +240°C

Widely used in the electronic, aerospace, optical and specialty OEM industries, Master Bond EP126 excels in high temperature applications up to +600°F. This two component product features unique handling properties as Part A is a moderate viscosity liquid and Part B is a powder. It can be easily mixed using a forgiving 100 to 50 ratio by weight. The mixed system is a malleable paste, with an exceedingly long open time of more than 5 days for a 100 gram batch. The curing is straightforward; 3-4 hours at 300°F or 2-3 hours at 350°F.

EP126 adheres well to many substrates including metals, composites, glass, ceramics, rubbers and many plastics. It offers a high tensile lap shear strength, tensile modulus and compressive strength of over 2,800 psi, 425,000-475,000 psi and 32,000-34,000 psi, respectively. This epoxy compound resists a variety of chemicals such as water, oils, acids, bases and many solvents. Additionally, it is formulated as a toughened system allowing it to withstand rigorous thermal cycling.

EP126 is dimensionally stable, has low shrinkage upon curing and is machineable. It also is a very good electrical insulator, especially as it retains high dielectric strength at elevated temperatures. When used as an adhesive and sealant, EP126 can be conveniently applied with a spatula or knife. This product has a service temperature range of -80°F to +600°F. EP126 features a shelf life of 6 months in its original, unopened containers and is available in kits ranging from ½ pints to 5 gallons.

Electrically and Thermally Conductive, Two Part Silicone Meets NASA Low Outgassing Specifications

Well suited for use in vacuum environments, Master Bond MasterSil 973S-LO is an adhesive, sealant and coating that passes NASA low outgassing tests. This electrically conductive, two component silicone can be used in the aerospace, electronic, opto-electronic and specialty OEM industries.

Featuring a low volume resistivity of 0.004 ohm-cm, MasterSil 973S-LO is a silver filled compound that has a thermal conductivity of 9-11 BTU•in/ft²•hr•°F [1.30-1.59 W/(m•K)]. It bonds well to a wide variety of substrates, including metals, composites, glass, ceramics, rubbers as well as many types of plastics. As is typical for most silicones, MasterSil 973S-LO is highly flexible and has an elongation of 50-100%. This enables it to withstand thermal cycling and mechanical shock. Serviceability for this product is from -120°F to +400°F [-84°C to +204°C].

MasterSil 973S-LO features a paste consistency with minimal flow, which allows it to be used as a formed-in-place conductive gasketing material. As an addition cured silicone, MasterSil 973S-LO does not require air for cross-linking. Unlike many silicones, it can cure wide cross sections and in depths beyond 1 inch. This formulation offers a variety of cure schedules at elevated temperatures, including 25-45 minutes at 250-300°F or 1-2 hours at 160-200°F.

MasterSil 973S-LO is available for purchase in 50 gram syringe kits. Additional sizes can be obtained upon request. It has a shelf life of 6 months at 75°F in its original, unopened containers.
