UV15X5 Product Description
One Component High Viscosity UV Curable System For Bonding, Sealing, Coating and Casting Featuring High Flexibility and Outstanding Abrasion Resistance
Master Bond Polymer System UV15X5 is a newly developed one component, nonyellowing, UV curable urethane elastomer system possessing high flexibility and outstanding abrasion resistance. This high viscosity system can be used for bonding, sealing, coating and casting. Master Bond UV15X5 offers excellent physical strength properties including high elongation, superb resistance to severe environmental conditions as well as the ability to withstand thermal cycling and thermal and mechanical shock. The service temperature range is 80°F to +250°F. UV15X5 bonds well to a variety of substrates including glass, various plastics such as polycarbonates and acrylics, selected rubbers, and metals. In addition, Master Bond UV15X5 possesses excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties. UV15X5 is 100% reactive and does not contain solvents or other volatiles.
With commercially available UV lamps cures "on demand" can be effected in very short time periods i.e. 1 minute or less at ambient temperatures. For example, when curing the UV15X5 in thinner sections (10 mils or less) with a 200 watt mercury vapor continuous light source emitting at 365 nm, UV15X5 will cure tack free within 10 seconds at 40 milliwatts of output. UV15X5 will cure in thickness greater than 1/8" thick although the cure is not as rapid as it would be in thinner sections.
Master Bond Polymer System UV15X5 is not air inhibited. No solvents or other volatiles are emitted during cure. Master Bond UV15X5 contains an exceptionally active UV curing initiator which makes cures practical even with relatively low intensity UV light sources. Finally, although UV15X5 has a relatively high viscosity, this feature is adjustable and lower viscosity's with similar properties are also available.
