Adhesives can be precisely applied in the desired bond line thickness to assure exact alignment of components with minimal fixturing. Products are engineered to bond well to metal, glass, ceramic, composite, plastic surfaces including substrates with different thermal coefficients of expansion and contraction. Low refractive index compounds have been used in delicate assembly operations to mate irregular shaped dissimilar materials in tight clearances. UV curable no mix systems are now available for rapid curing and meet NASA ASTME-595 low outgassing specifications. Most noteworthy has been the development of two component epoxy adhesives that exhibit low linear/volumetric shrinkage, high dimensional stability and ultra low coefficients of thermal expansion. These cost effective bonding agents also have superior wetting properties, an attractive Tg and chemical/solvent humidity resistance.
