Considerations for Adhesive Bonding Rigid PVC
Typical Master Bond adhesive formulations for bonding rigid PVC are EP21ND, EP31, EP21TDCHT, EP41S-5, and EP30HT. These easy to use/apply systems cure at room temperature or more rapidly upon exposure to heat. EP21ND is a non-drip paste with a non-critical one to one mix ratio by weight or volume. It exhibits high strength durable bonds and has excellent dimensional stability. Low viscosity EP31 has high lap shear and peel strength. It has a shore D hardness is 70-80. User friendly EP21TDCHT can withstand harsh thermal cycling, vibration, and shock. It is a superior electrical insulator. EP30HT is a structural, rigid curing, optically clear adhesive system which can be used for indirect food contact per the 175.105 FDA specifications. The refractive index of this product is 1.54. EP41S-5 offers outstanding chemical resistance properties including acids, bases, and solvents. It is black in color.
Master Bond Popular Products
EP21ND Two part, room temperature curing epoxy with easy handling and very good physical strength properties. Non-drip paste. For bonding, sealing, coating. One to one mix ratio. Chemically resistant. Gap filling. Variable mix ratio allows adjusting hardness of cure. Low shrinkage. Service temperature range from -60°F to 250°F. |
EP31 Ultra high strength, two part epoxy adhesive that bonds well to most metals and plastics. Aluminum to aluminum lap shear strength exceeds 4,000 psi. T-peel strength >50 pli. Ambient temperature curing. Tough and resilient bonds. Combines low viscosity and optical clarity. Serviceable from -60°F to +250°F. Chemical resistant. First class electrical insulator. |
EP21TDCHT High strength, high temperature resistant, two part system with excellent bond strength and thermal cycling capabilities. Serviceable from -100°F to +350°F. Meets MIL-STD-883J Section 3.5.2 for thermal stability. Moderate viscosity. Superior toughness. Withstands vibration, impact, shock. Good dimensional stability. Convenient one to one mix ratio. Dependable electrical insulation properties. |
EP41S-5 Excellent chemical resistance to solvents, bases, acids, alcohol and fuels. Withstands exposure to methylene chloride, phenol (10%) and nitric acid (30%). Well suited for coating tanks, pumps and vessels. Moderate viscosity with good flow properties. Can be used for potting/encapsulation. Formidable physical strength properties. Serviceable from -80°F to +450°F. |
